AI launch video vs. hiring a video agency
An agency is not overpriced. It is priced for what it does, which includes work supaintro does not attempt. This page is about which of those two shapes fits the film you are trying to ship, and it does not conclude that the answer is always us.
What the money buys
A B2B SaaS launch film from an agency runs $10,000 to $50,000, and boutique hero work goes considerably higher. That is four to eight weeks of a team: a creative director arguing with you about positioning, a writer, a designer building frames, an animator, a sound designer, and a producer keeping it moving. The expensive part is the judgement, not the rendering.
You are also buying accountability. If the film misses, someone senior gets on a call and it gets fixed. That is worth real money when the launch is the company's biggest moment of the year.
| Video agency | supaintro | |
|---|---|---|
| Cost | $10,000 to $50,000 | $59 to $149 per film |
| Timeline | 4 to 8 weeks | Same day |
| Revisions | Two or three, then change orders | Hand-editing free, 3 takes on Pro |
| Changing a word post-delivery | A change request and a fee | An edit and a re-render |
| Extra aspect ratios | Usually quoted separately | Included, re-rendered per ratio rather than cropped |
| Creative direction | A human who will push back on you | Craft traits from an analysed reference library |
| Live action, talking heads | Yes | No |
| Strategy and positioning | Yes, often the real value | No, it works from the positioning you already have |
Where the agency model hurts
Three failure modes, all of them about time rather than quality. The first is the launch date moving, which happens constantly, and a four-week production does not compress. The second is the copy changing after delivery, which also happens constantly: legal rewords a claim, a feature slips, the pricing changes, and the finished export is now wrong in a way that costs a change order to fix. The third is scope: you commissioned a hero film, and now you need a square cut, a vertical cut, and a 15-second version for pre-roll.
None of these are the agency being bad at their job. They are the consequence of buying a rendered artefact rather than a project you can re-run.
Where the agency is still the right answer
A generator cannot do the first two at all, and should not pretend otherwise. If your launch film needs a creative director to tell you your message is wrong, buy the creative director.
The case for generating it
You already know what you want to say. The positioning is settled and what is missing is execution. The launch is in three weeks. You will need both landscape and vertical cuts, and probably a re-cut when the pricing page changes.
In that situation the agency premium is buying you judgement you have already exercised. supaintro writes the storyline from your own product, renders motion graphics with your exact copy and colours, and gives you a project rather than an export, so the version that ships in week four can differ from the one you approved in week one without another invoice.
The hybrid that actually works
Spend the agency budget once, on the brand film that has to be exceptional, and generate the volume around it: the feature announcements, the social cuts, the second and third launches that were never going to get their own production. The brand carries across because both are working from the same colours, typefaces, and logo, read off your own site.
How much does a SaaS launch video cost from an agency?
Typically $10,000 to $50,000 for a B2B SaaS launch film, with boutique and hero work running $50,000 to $250,000. Freelancers with After Effects usually quote $2,000 to $8,000. Subscription video services run $2,000 to $20,000 per month. Breakdown in the cost guide.
How long does an agency take?
Four to eight weeks is normal for a launch film, including a kickoff, a script round, a styleframe round, animation, and two or three revision passes. Rush work is possible and is priced accordingly.
Can I use my agency's film as a reference?
Not today. The reference library is ours and analysed in advance, which is what keeps the free tier free and the turnaround in minutes. What does carry over from work you have already commissioned is your brand: colours, typefaces, and logo are read from your own site and used exactly.
Will an AI-generated launch film look cheap?
It will look like its reference library, which is the mechanism and also the limitation: the craft ceiling is the craft in those films, and a film with nothing to say will be a well-made film with nothing to say. The output is motion graphics with exact type and exact brand colour, which is a different failure surface from generated footage.
Extraction and the storyboard cost nothing. You will know inside an hour whether it clears your bar.
